###### OVERVIEW

## Life-changing learning for refugee children

We partner with refugee-led organizations and our software partner onebillion to implement tablet programs in community-run schools. These programs are co-designed with our community partners, building local expertise and ensuring long-term sustainability.

As pledged at the the 2023 Global Refugee Forum, Imagine is committed to expanding its work in refugee settings and continuing to reach learners in some of the world’s most challenging environments.

### State of Education for refugee children

#### Of the world’s 43.3 million refugee children today, just 50% have access to formal education.

Those that are in school face practical challenges of overcrowding and under-resourcing, with the vast majority of children not attaining basic literacy and numeracy skills. Our program is uniquely suited to overcome the challenges of refugee settings. By leveraging tablet-based learning we offer high-quality educational content that can adapt to the unique contexts, learning needs, and languages of refugee children.

While protracted refugee situations can last decades, refugee education is largely financed from emergency funds, leaving little room for long-term planning. We have a community-driven approach that makes quality education accessible in a sustainable way to all refugee children.

### “Education enables refugee children and youth to thrive, not just survive.”

###### Meet our partners in Dzaleka Refugee Camp, Malawi

Since our founding, Imagine has worked to bring tablet-based learning to refugee settings around the world, including Bangladesh, Tanzania, and Malawi. Our current work focuses on the Dzaleka Refugee Camp, where we partner with **Refugee-Led Organizations** (RLOs) to ensure culturally relevant and community-driven support for refugee education.

Imagine provides the resources and support partners need to deliver tablet-based learning, removing financial barriers and strengthening long-term, community-driven education.

###### Holistic Focus for the Marginalized

HFM began in 2014 with the desire to improve the lives of vulnerable people within and around Dzaleka through education, healthcare and livelihood programs. In 2018, they became the first refugee-led organization to partner with Imagine Worldwide and provided critical early research results that catalyzed adoption of the tablet program both within and outside of the camp.

###### Salama Africa

Salama Africa is a community-based organization started in 2014 with the intention to empower children and youth in Dzaleka through arts, education and skills-building. In 2021, they partnered with Imagine Worldwide to provide tablet-based learning to 1075 children, many of whom are out of school. In Dzaleka, over 10,000 school-aged children do not have access to formal education.

###### Fountain of Hope

Fountain of Hope is a nonprofit organization that aims to educate, empower and advocate for under-served communities in Sub-Saharan Africa. In June 2024 they partnered with Imagine to establish the tablet program in their Dzaleka school. They aim to sustain and expand this program through existent income-generating activities and contributions from parents.

###### Sowing Hope and Life

Sowing Hope and Life began in 2018 driven by the belief that marginalized children have the right to experience life in abundance, which they try to achieve through their education, empowerment and livelihood activities. In June 2024, they partnered with Imagine Worldwide to implement the tablet-based program in their Dzaleka school.
